2010-2011 Discover Our EarthDiscover Our Earth is a unique project being operated by GlobeBusters with Edelweiss Bike Travel. If you want to live this dream, you will need nothing planned between November 21, 2010 and July 27, 2011! Discover Our Earth is an 8 month, 40,000 mile, 5 continent expedition. This incredible journey will become the longest supported motorcycle overland trip in history. Below is links to some photos from that section: Section 1The expedition starts on November 21, 2010 in Mieming in the middle of Tyrol’s Alps. First the expedition leaders and support crew ride from GlobeBusters HQ based in South Wales but then we ride to Morocco and then south through the Western Sahara. This first section runs for 4 weeks and criss crosses the Sahara and Morocco. Section 2 - PatagoniaFrom here machines are flown to Buenos Aires, Argentina. This second section runs through most of South America, ending in Bogota, Columbia after 9 weeks. We will have ridden Ruta 40 in Argentina, and cross back to Chile to ride the Carretera Austral, around Lago General to Chile Chico. Section 2 - Northern AndesFollow the spine of the Andes to the Atacama Desert. Dispel the myths of Colombia – it’s a biking paradise, with consistently twisty roads through a tropical paradise! Section 3 - Central AmericaThe colours, noise and chaos of Mexico & Central America will certainly challenge your riding skills! The incredible highlands of Guatemala, the Mayan ruins in Mexico, the tropical jungles and the smoking volcanoes in Costa Rica means that this part of the world will be rattling your senses along time after you have left. Section 4 - AustraliaLeaving Sydney, we ride through the Blue Mountains, onto the Great Ocean Road, into the famous wine regions of Barossa valley, north to the Red Centre and Uluru (Ayers Rock). It’s crocs in Kakadu National Park and gorges in Karajini National Park, before heading down the west coast to Shark Bay, finishing in Perth. |
