London To Beijing DVD Now Available!

Most riders in the northern Hemisphere are unable to get out on their bikes at this time of year, due to snow, ice and frosty conditions. Fortunately, there is a way to get your motorcycling ‘fix’ from the comfort of your favourite armchair, and that is to watch one of our many adventure motorcycling DVDs that are available for purchase online.

The latest to be released is Riding Asia – London to Beijing, which details our reconnaissance trip made in preparation for our inaugural London to Beijing ‘Silk Road East’ adventure tour which will begin next April and last for approximately 80 days.

Because these journeys have to be planned in advance to check routes, border crossings, safety, availability of fuel and accommodation etc., the GlobeBusters team of five (Kevin and Julia Sanders, Jeff Condon, Mark Hamilton and Greg Bennett) set out from South Wales at the end of March 2009 to head off on a 13,000 mile (21,000 kilometres) motorcycle adventure across Europe, Turkey, Central Asia and China. This DVD is the story of our trip.

The route was an ambitious one – crossing the Caspian Sea by dilapidated ferry, then ride across the police state of Turkmenistan, onto the Silk Road heartland of Uzbekistan, before taking on the challenge of the dirt road, The Pamir Highway in Tajikistan, via the Wakhan Valley on the Afghan border.

From there we transverse Kyrgyzstan to enter China via the Torugart Pass and head south along the military road to reach the Friendship Highway and onto Everest Base Camp and the Tibetan capital, Lhasa. The final leg of the journey was to go south to Yunnan Province, before tackling the dense traffic of the vast industralised cities to Beijing.

Filmed en route this tells the story of the difficulties the team faced – riding at altitudes of over 5,000 metres, snowed-in mountain passes, landslides and swollen river crossings in Tajikistan, Chinese bureaucracy to get permission to ride in Tibet, crashing in the Himalayas, pollution and chaos of the roads in eastern China, to reach the Chinese capital. In doing so, the GlobeBusters Team completed a journey by motorcycle that few westerners have ever done before.

With a running time of 66 minutes, the Riding Asia - London to Beijing DVD details what promises to be the most extreme expedition that GlobeBusters currently runs. Available for £19.99 (plus postage, packing & delivery worldwide), it can be ordered by visiting on this site.

Please note, the DVD is only available in PAL format and is not suitable for the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America (as well as certain other regions) unless you have a multi-region format DVD player. Please check your machine before you order.
