Research Riders Roll Out...

This week sees two GlobeBusters research rides departing.    One from Bangkok and one from Sydney.

Kevin and Julia are in hot humid Bangkok, readying themselves for a ride to through Laos, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Slovakia and home to Europe some 3 months later.  The research is for Discover Our Earth, the World’s longest assisted Motorcycle Expedition which GlobeBusters are leading in November this year.     Kevin and Julia are completing the final route planning as well as testing the borders, customs and visa requirements to make sure all runs smoothly next year when this ride will form the section 5 of Discover Our Earth.

“This is the first time Julia and I have been on the road together, just us, for over five years” Kevin said prior to departing.    They are riding back on the round the world Guinness World Record R1150GS and a new F800GS.

At the same time Jeff Condon a GlobeBusters veteran is researching the Australia leg of the same trip.   He is riding out from Sydney this weekend on a BMW R1200GS and is bisecting Australia on a 6 week odyssey.   A bit of a busman’s holiday for Jeff as he has lived in Australia for the past decade, but this does make him ideally qualified for the job.  Jeff should be riding into Perth in six weeks, which when the trip runs for real is where the bikes will be shipped to Bangkok to join up with section 5.

Riders of Discover Our Earth will already have ridden through North Africa, the length and breadth of South America and through Central America to Los Angeles by the time they land in Perth for these final two sections of their trip.   Totalling 8 months and 40,000+ miles it is another record breaker from GlobeBusters.

You can follow both research rides on www.globebusters.com or on facebook
